The Governor of Kwara state, Abdulfatah Ahmed says his administration is committed to the security of lives and property of the people of the state.

He gave the assurance at the annual dinner of Third Estate held at the Banquet Hall of Kwara Hotels, Ilorin.

Governor Ahmed, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Sola Isiaka Gold, said his government put security of the people at the front burner with the creation of Operation Harmony, which comprises men of the Nigeria Army, Civil Defence and the police.

“The present administration was prioritising infrastructural development, massive road rehabilitation, rural transformation as well as youth empowerment scheme with a view to stemming the tide of unemployment,” he said.

Offer speedy solution
Describing Third Estate as a veritable platform in all facets of human endeavours, the Governor said the government would partner with the elite forum to offer speedy solution to some challenges confronting Ilorin community.

The Guest Lecturer at the occasion, Comrade Issa Aremu, who is the Vice President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, stressed the need to preserve the nation’s unity to make human resources work.
Aremu, who decried the increasing wave of unemployment in the country, tasked the government to devise strategies to create more jobs for the teeming youth.

He enjoined members of the political class to tread as the nation moves towards another transition.
He also urged the Federal Government to discourage senseless carpet-crossing that has dominated the nation’s political discourse while those who intend to defect to another political party must first resign from the position they are occupying.

Also speaking, the Minister of National Planning, Dr Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, appealed to the state government to rid the state of political thugs.

“Government must seek a new way of making job available for the unemployed graduates in the state,” the Minister said.

In his welcome address, the Chairman, Third Estate, Dr. Yusuf Lawal, expressed concern over high rate of unemployment in the country with negative trend for the growth and development of the nation.
