Third-Estate Calls on FCC to Ensure Equitable Facility Distribution
A socio-cultural organisation, Third Estate Forum has called on the Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem to commence the planned monitoring and enforcing equitable distribution of infrastructural facilities across states of the federation in line with the 1999 Constitution.
The Chairman of the Third-Estate, Dr. Yusuf Lawal while congratulating Professor Abdulraheem on his reappointment for a second tenure in FCC said the enforcement of equitable distribution of infrastructural facilities would add values to every section of Nigeria and extend developmental effort to the nooks and cranies of the country.”
The Third Estate Forum described the reappointment of Prof. Shuaibu Oba Abdulraheem as a manifestation of the great confidence reposed in him by President Goodluck Jonathan based on the excellent work that he is doing at the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
Dr. Lawal said the development further showed that it is still a worthwhile venture for a public officer to approach his assignment conscientiously no matter the efforts of detractors.
“We note that within the period that Prof. Oba has been in office, lopsidedness in employment and appointments into government offices are being corrected and balanced with chief executive officers of certain agencies under search light and others charged before the Code of Conduct Tribunal for violating the principle of federal character as enshrined in the Constitution.
“We therefore urge the erudite scholar to continue in the noble ways that he started in his first tenure, and to contribute his quota to ensure the success of the Transformation Agenda of President Jonathan.”
