UNILORIN to Sustain Academic Standard- Vice Chancellor (June 13, 2013)

The Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali has promised to sustain the academic standard and smooth academic calendar the university is reputed for, through concerted efforts and collaboration with the academic community including lecturers, non-academic staff, students as well as the Ilorin Community.

 

Prof. Amballi who made the remark at the weekend when members of the Third Estate Forum paid him a courtesy call, said his priority is to sustain peaceful coexistence in the university and improve on the facilities and standards of the 38 years old university.

 

He said he had called on alumni of the university and other stakeholders to contribute their quotas towards development of the institution.

 

“I urge our old students and other relevant stakeholders to come and contribute in partnership with the university towards the development of the institution. It can be through Public Private Partnership, endowments and other business ventures that can improve the academic standard on the campus,” he said.

 

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of Third Estate Forum, Dr. Yusuf Lawal expressed delight at the Vice Chancellor’s impressive initiatives being undertaken to reposition the university to greatness.

 

Dr. Lawal urged the Vice Chancellor to sustain the standard the University is known for and called on him to maintain and further enhance the reputation of the institution which made it the second most preferred tertiary institution in Nigeria going by the recent JAMB statistics. Dr Lawal enjoined Professor Ambali to upgrade and expand academic programmes in the university through the mounting of additional functional courses such as Dentistry, Physiotherapy and Nuclear Engineering.

 

The Chairman said the Third Estate welcomes the Vice Chancellor’s invitation to it to  provide strategic supports through partnership towards the accomplishments of his initiatives.
